Calgary is the most important city in the countryside of Alberta in Canada. It has all the advantages of a big city with a population of a bit more than one million inhabitants and, at the same time, it is clean, secure and free of environmental pollution.
It is situated 80 kilometers from the Rocky Mountains, where river Bow and Elbow meet each other. Because of its favorable location and its climate, it is an important tourist destination, and, in addition, perfect for enthusiasts of winter sports. The Rocky Mountains provide a fascinating opportunity for skiing or snowboarding during the winter, but also for camping, hiking or rafting in summer.
Throughout the year, the city hosts numerous festivals, e.g. the Calgary Stampede, the Lilac Festival, or the Globalfest. Furthermore, the city has a great variety of museums, theaters and galleries.
