Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and the capital of Catalonia in the north-east of the country. It is also a major economic centre with one of the biggest Mediterranean ports and the second largest International Airport (El Prat) in Spain. Undoubtedly, Barcelona is an important cultural centre with many interesting architectural works such as the one of Antoni Gaudí and with many museums and other places of historical interest. Barcelona offers a diversity of landscapes from the Tibidabo Mountain to many kilometres of sandy beaches.
Barcelona has a Mediterranean humid climate, with drought in summer and abundant rains the rest of the year. The temperatures are hot in summer and soft in winter. In Barcelona there are two official languages: Spanish and Catalan, spoken in the whole province.
