Madrid has been the capital city of Spain since 1562 and has more than 3,000,000 inhabitants. The third biggest city in the European Union (after London and Berlin) is full of energy unmatched by any other European capital. The city is extremely compact and located in the center of Spain. Because of this convenient location, people can get to any part of the country in approximately 5 hours by car and that makes it the perfect base for travelling.

Madrid is a city full of contrasts that mix the ancient with the modern architecture. It i an influential financial and political centre where important events are held every day. It is one of the leading European cities in terms of green areas such as the Parque del Retiro and the Parque del Oeste.

All year long Madrid offers a great variety of events such as exhibitions, football matches, concerts, opera, “zarzuela”, theater, cinema, bullfights, etc. The nightlife is unmatched by other European cities. Madrid is crowded with people of all ages having a good time in restaurants, clubs, discos, and bars.
